GWA Law is proud to announce that we are partnering with Argus Accounting. We are proud to recommend our Trusted Partners that offer high-quality service to our clients. As highly regarded professionals in their own fields, they are here to help you and your business.
In our second showcase of our trusted partners, we sat down with Sharon Broer the CEO and Founder of Argus Accounting.
Why did you found Argus accounting?.
I founded Argus Accounting in May this year. It is my Covid baby. I decided to branch out on my own because after working in accounting for over 20 years I developed a way of working with clients and I wanted to have more control over that partnership.
I like to have a really close working relationship with my clients, I like to be able to put the time, effort and investment into the relationship without worrying about hourly costs and time constraints.
I am passionate about accounting, you may have heard me say previously that I’m driven by what keeps my clients awake at night. It motivates me to get up in the morning.
I’m excited by the journey I go on with business owners and get a frontline view of as their business grows.
Where does the name come from?
The word Argus derives from Greek mythology meaning the ‘watchful guardian’. Argus Panoptes was gigantic in stature and had immense strength, but what set him apart was the fact that he was adorned with a hundred seeing eyes. Hence the suffix Panoptes, meaning “all-seeing”.
Accounting to me, is more than a walking calculator just providing you with the numbers. Argus Accounting is about understanding the business owner and the business and providing the ultimate support.
Our passion is building close relationships with clients and striving to meet their diverse needs, goals and aspirations.
What makes Argus Accounting different from other accountancy service providers?
We’re a family run business of expert accounting providers and proficient bookkeepers who have first-hand experience with the pressures surrounding accountancy including cash flow, management accounts, VAT returns, budgets, forecasts and credit control.
Alongside the services you expect, we are able to add further value by working within complex areas of accountancy which are unique to your business.
Which areas of the UK do you cover?
Argus Accounting is a nationwide business, supporting business growth in every region. Pre covid we travelled to each of our clients for regular face-to-face meetings.
Given the current climate, we have adapted our offering to include dedicated expert support hand via email, phone, and online communication as regularly as required.
Why is it important for business owners/MDs to get their accounts done by a professional?
Many SMEs don’t realise that 60% of new businesses fail in the first 3 years. Typically, one of the main reasons for this is poor financial management. It is not about a lack of funds, it’s a lack of available funds.
Most people don’t service their cars at home. Instead, they go to a professional mechanic who can keep things running smoothly and spot potential issues. Businesses need the same financial attention from a professional.
Accounting is so much more than tax returns and year-end reviews. Experts take a comprehensive assessment of business finances and create a forecast through the year to keep the business at a healthy, profitable state.
